Congratulations to the Syracuse Orange, winners of the first Big East Women’s Lacrosse Championship. The SU squad took the title at home, with a 12-7 victory over top-seeded Georgetown. Sophomore goalkeeper Amber Pardee-Hill, an Upstate New York native, seen here about to grab the championship’s Most Outstanding Player award with one of 13 saves.
Syracuse ended Georgetown’s six-year string of conference championship wins, and grabbed an automatic bid for the NCAA Championship. It was SU’s first victory over the Hoyas in 11 tries, and it gives SU an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. Truly an outstanding performance for the Orange women, who return to the Dome Sunday, hosting second-ranked Pennsylvania.
