Something remarkable happened on Syracuse television last night: ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff and his author-wife Lee shared their story of his near-fatal injury in Iraq, and his long, continuing recovery with viewers of NewsChannel 9.
It was a live, in-depth interview, beautifully handled by anchors Dan Cummings and Carrie Lazarus. We promise you won’t be wasting your time if you click here and watch it.
The Woodruffs later did a book signing event at Barnes and Noble in DeWitt and went on to Colgate University, their alma mater, to deliver a joint commencement address this weekend. But nowhere will they make a stronger impression than they did on Channel 9 last night. Their appearance also, in our opinion, raised the bar for taste, judgment and skillful interviewing on local television.
